Schools Ladder Rules & Conditions
Mason 2012 TENNIS LADDER RULES
Matches can be played at Toowoomba Tennis Coaching (Tennis Mason) NO COST if a School court is not provided. The Challenger is responsible to organise a court after a challenge is made.
CHALLENGE MATCHES ARE FIRST TO 6 GAMES WITH TIE-BREAKER AT 5 ALL. (eg. 6/5)
After 40 minutes, whoever is in front is declared the winner. eg 4/2.
Any player 10 minutes late is forfeited without excuse unless the opponent agrees to play. Max time is still 40 mins from the agreed starting time. (ie 10 minutes late leaves only 30 minutes to play)
Ranking 1 to 10 can challenge up to 2 spaces above; Ranking 11 to 32 can challenge up to 4 spaces above; Ranking 33 and above up to 6 spaces above.
ALL CHALLENGES ARE TO REMAIN IN THE RELEVENT AGE GROUP. Challenges can only be ONE POSITION ABOVE – however #1 IN EACH AGE GROUP CAN CONTINUE TO CHALLENGE UP TO 6 SPACES ABOVE. Overall Top 10 (#1 to #10) may challenge out of their age group BUT ONLY ONE POSITION above.
All Challenges into the first 10 ARE FIRST TO 6 GAMES WITH TIE-BREAKER AT 5 ALL – but with no time limit.
State Tournaments including Feed-Ins (eg regionals and state trials) allow winners to move up the ladder quickest. If a player defeats another player on the ladder in one of these official Tournaments then the winning player takes the defeated’s players place, regardless of the number of positions above.
THE CHALLENGED PARTY HAS 5 SCHOOL DAYS TO PLAY OR THE CHALLENGER TAKES HIS POSITION. In any perceived circumstance Tennis Mason will make any final challenge decision.
THE CHALLENGER PROPOSES DATE AND TIME OF MATCH ON SCHOOL COURTS or as agreed by both players.
IF THIS IS NOT SUITABLE, THE CHALLENGED PARTY HAS 24 hours TO PROPOSE A SUITABLE TIME FOR BOTH PARTIES OR HE/SHE FORFEITS THE MATCH. Follow the Procedure Check List or telephone for ANY RULINGS.
MATCHES CAN BE BEFORE SCHOOL-LUNCH HOUR-AFTER SCHOOL- OR AT ANOTHER COURT IF BOTH PARTIES AGREE.
ANY PLAYER CAN PLAY MORE THAN ONE MATCH PER WEEK BUT IS NOT OBLIGATED TO ACCEPT A SECOND CHALLENGE IN THE SAME WEEK AFTER HAVING BEEN CHALLENGED AND PLAYED. (i.e. THERE IS NO PENALTY OR FORFEITURE IF A SECOND CHALLENGE IS MADE IN THE SAME WEEK). HOWEVER A PLAYER MUST ACCEPT ANY CHALLENGE OFFERED THE IMMEDIATE WEEK FOLLOWING BEFORE CHALLENGING FURTHER. (i.e. YOU MUST ACCEPT A CHALLENGE IF OFFERED AFTER YOU HAVE CHALLENGED SOMEONE.) After 3 winning defences in the same term against the same player, the challenged player does not have to accept another challenge from that player – in that term.
ANY PLAYER NOT PLAYING A MATCH IN 2 CALENDAR MONTHS WILL BE DROPPED 10 PLACES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE PLAYERS RANKED #1 - #10.
CHALLENGER SUPPLIES 2 USED TENNIS BALLS OF MATCH QUALITY.
