Fees are monthly following this. Please email Wayne to arrange the best time for Wayne to phone parents to discuss any questions you may have. Included is our 12 month weekly Online Coaching package plus the option for Juniors in this package to send personal videos (from a smart phone or camcorder or video camera) for analysis by Wayne. He will respond via email with jpeg corrections and videos where necessary to illistrate what and how to make techncal corrections. All video shots should be of a max 10/15 seconds. 80% of skill learning/acquisition is visual. With all the new technolgy Wayne knows and believes that "anything that can be taught can be taught online."

Parents should be involved, especially for children in primary school. Wayne communicates via email and tablet, mobile, video and audio emails, sms often, skype and landlines. When in Toowoomba and Brisbane, you will be invited into one of our daily squads no charge - with advanced notice of 7 days necessary. Surrounding regional centres such as Warwick, Pittsworth, Clifton, Stanthorpe and the like are invited to consider the practical application of ONLINE COACHING where monthly visits to Toowoomba to work personally with Wayne can be easily organised. Weekends are a valuable option and allows that personal touch to ensure all is going well - that progress is being made!

Students in distant isolated areas (e.g. Chinchilla, Miles, Roma, Mitchell, Charleville, Quilpie, Augathella, Longreach, Cunnamulla, St George etc) can be equally successful with weekly year round support. We suggest 2 weekend visits to Toowoomba each school term if possible with Wayne coming to your town once each school term to personally oversee progress. (This system works - it is achieveable - we can help with billets in Toowoomba and some towns may be asked to travel to a nearby towns to achieve the results we all desire). Any coaching for your area must be ONGOING, (not spasmodic visits), be accountable, and most important, run by someone who has a history of getting results! Wayne's bachground - please click here.

Wayne will be more than happy to visit any town to meet with tennis committees and parents to give a presentation and free demonstration. Please have a representative call or email to discuss a no obligation visit.

All monthly plans are over 12 months (anything less for children is simply not practical for those wanting results!) All monthly plans INCLUDE our 50 weekly tutorials. You will find these indispensable - see the benefits in the ONLINE COACHING tab. Each pupil with Tennis Mason AND any pupil of any coach in the Toowoomba region who wishes, can join in this benefit. Just ask your coach to call Wayne to find out how everyone can benefit. As stated earlier, 'we are committed to results' for EVERYONE!

NO-ONE offers anything comparable to our method! If you want to truly improve, you will need a commitment to practice (not just hit!) a minimum 4 times per week. (We will design purposefull hitting sessions for you). You will also need the assisance of a parent or responsible adult to manage you. They need not necessarily hit but direct your progress as Wayne will when he visits. Your 'manager' will have full support by us via our weekly Online Coaching emails and frequent personal contact from Wayne, but you absolutely need help and support from an adult. Be certain you can make the commitment - as we do - for success always requires committed effort, persistence and self-belief! No doubts! .....and always action!

Jan and I have been back home in Toowoomba since March, 2012. We already have a few players again participating at regional tournaments after just 2 terms. Harry won his first tournament. An incredible feat first up! The Tournament was at Pittsworth (Harry had to win all 5 matches) and sister Brielle came third in the Girls 13's! BOTH INCREDIBLE FIRST- UP TOURNAMENT ACHIEVEMENTS!

Do try a FREE lesson with Wayne when in Toowoomba to decide if we can help you. Then, by all means feel free to discuss things with us personally. Wayne's background.

Basic Coaching Information:

Toowoomba Tennis Coaching (Tennis Mason) believes strongly in the concept of coaching in groups.

 2 REASONS:

  •         Small Groups based on age and ability allows individuals to lift each other in a spirit of team spirit. Please refer to the age related Junior Programs at the bottom of the Home Page.
  •         Orderly Groups foster a FUN environment which is very conducive to learning a skill.

Lesson Duration is also paramount because:

  •         The ability to understand and apply new skills diminishes RAPIDLY after approximately 45 minutes.
  •         The body requires additional weekly time for physical repetition (practice) to acquire good habit patterns and muscle development to perform the skill task.
  •         In addition to Technical Skills we offer Junior Competitions designed to accelerate the learning process and here the Tactical Skills are introduced. (Simply explained, Technique is how you hit the ball while Tactics are where you hit the ball)

COMMON MISTAKES in Coach Selection:

One Club recently approached us because they were not happy with their coach and wanted to know if we were interested. A few questions uncovered that the $7.20 per child fee was inexpensive - but that there were "about" 20 pupils on 2 courts. RIDICULOUS!

We welcome and recommend Parents watch as many lessons as they can at Toowoomba Tennis Coaching (Tennis Mason), and indeed all our teaching venues.

 BEST AGE TO BEGIN LESSONS:

Preschooler lessons are the most difficult to master for a Coach. They require ‘100% plus’ concentration. Attention to individual pupil learning rates and alternative methods to transfer the knowledge in ways your child will understand are crucial. Be sure your Coach has mastered the teaching skills required to work with very young children. In fact we personally believe that Preschooler Coaches are the most underrated coaches. It is the same with PreSchool and early year Grades 1 and 2 for School Teachers!

Observation by the Parent will tell you if your child likes the lesson intrinsically (what they learn for inner reasons such as - personal satisfaction and pure joy of hitting the ball) or extrinsically (love the lesson for external reasons like lollies and gifts etc). We suggest the balance between these 2 motivations be 80/20.

To place an age as to when to begin lessons - and depending on the ability of the coach teaching your child - anywhere from 4 to 6 years (though we have had more than a few 3 year olds from time to time) is a good time to begin learning tennis. Ask your coach for ball games to play at home with toddlers - NOT necessarily for tennis but generally to develop confidence and hand/eye coordination skills which all of us require whether we play sport or not!

 IN SUMMARY:

Groups can actually be of more benefit than Private lessons for young people aged between 5 and 10 years.

  1. Group SIZE is more important than Cost.
  2. Try to actually watch a lesson from time to time and understand precisely what your child is learning - and how!
  3. Pay serious attention to the ability (via the progress you observe of your child) of the Coach teaching your child.
